Welcome to our church

The Pentecostal church of North America faces an unprecedented reality of plateau. Growth continues nationally but is not keeping pace with population rates. According to Len Sweet, the picture is bleak for all churches. He contends that of every 100 churches, 75 are declining, 24 are growing from those leaving the declining churches and only ONE of every 100 churches is growing from actually reaching pre-Christians within their local culture. Especially for Pentecostal churches, this must not continue and revitalization is imperative. However, what revitalization strategy should a Pentecostal church utilize? Many “models” exist but the IAOG embraces what we believe to be a book of Acts model. This model begins with fervent, spiritually dynamic prayer (private devotions and public gatherings) connecting people dynamically to the Spirit of Jesus and to each other in supportive community. This Acts model facilitates the community of Christ discovering ministry gifts and evangelizing their world – locally, regionally, nationally and globally. Revitalizing a church requires our embracing values more than methods and building effective ministries in this present cultural context. Lifting a church requires many hands including those of the pastor, deacons, historic and recent attendees plus the willing hands of district leaders and fellow pastors. This “cohort” approach provides a framework of support and spiritual encouragement helpful to any Pentecostal leader.
